Learning to cope with problems, difficulties, challenges, frustrations, and experiences is a skill that every human being should learn in his or her lifetime. Acquiring healthy coping mechanisms, as well as understanding and accepting that some things are beyond a person’s control, are just a couple examples of proper stress management.

Adequate sleep is essential to an individual's health. A good night’s sleep is just as important as eating healthy foods and exercising. Adults are recommended to get between 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night. Adequate sleep helps with weight management, improves mood, concentration and productivity, enhances athletic performance, and supports the immune system.

Weight Management

A person’s mental health is strongly related to the functions of all the other major systems throughout the body, e.g. the circulatory system, digestive system, excretory system, immune system, etc. Adequate mental health is needed for a person’s health to be overall.

Weight Management

The weight of a person is considered to be an anthropometric measurement, like height and BMI. As the US has a very high obesity epidemic, losing and maintaining weight are common nutrition goals for many people. Weight gain and weight loss rates vary in different individuals, but slow down as a person ages. Maintaining weight according to a person’s height is an important responsibility to maintain throughout life.

Medications play a major role in healing or management of a person’s medical illness. Unfortunately, most medications have side effects, some which can be very severe or life-threatening. As a result, for prescription drugs, a pharmacist is required to explain the directions of each medication to patients. Avoiding or including certain foods is also necessary.
